Once upon a time, there was a king with 4 wives.
One day the king got sick and was on his deathbed. Afride of being in the afterlife alone.
He asked his 4th wife, whom he loved most. And bought her diamonds, gold, and elegant clothing, He asked her would you die with me and go with me to the afterlife?
The fourth wife replied - I'm sorry I can't do that and walked away.
He also loved his third wife and was very proud and would always show her off to the neighboring kingdoms. So he called her 3rd wife and asked would you accompany me afterlife? The 3rd wife replied - I love my life too much I'm sorry, I cannot come with you, when you die I'm going to remarry.
The second wife who always been there for him in his times of need, so he asked would accompany me afterlife? The second wife replied - I'm sorry that I can't help you out this time, what I can do is arrange your funeral and I will be there for your funeral.
A voice called out and said, I'll leave with you and follow you wherever you go even if it is to the afterlife, The king looked and it was his first wife, But this was the wife that he took care of the least he feel embarrassed and said I'm sorry I should have taken more care for you and given you more attention when I was alive.
In reality, we all have four wives in our lives:
Our 4th wife - It is our body, no matter how much time and effort was lavish into making it look good, it will leave us when we die.
Our 3rd wife - Is our possessions, status, and wealth. When we die, it will all go to others.
Our 2nd wife - Is our family and friends. No matter how much they have been there for us, the furthest they can stay by us is up to the grave.
And our 1st wife is our soul – often neglected in pursuit of wealth, power, and pleasures of the world. However, our identity as a spirit soul is going to be maintained wherever we go, whatever bodies we acquire, and whatever destination we achieve. So, we should cultivate, strengthen, and cherish this existential reality now.
In essence, this story encourages me a balanced and holistic approach to life, recognizing the importance of the physical, material, and relational aspects while not neglecting the spiritual dimension that provides lasting meaning and purpose.
