There are people in life who leave an indelible mark on our hearts, and for me, that person was my father. Though he is no longer with us, his love, wisdom, and memories remain woven into the fabric of who I am. I’ve always known the importance of family, but nothing can truly replace the love of a father. Even as I’m a wife and mother now, and have my own family to care for, the love my father gave me is irreplaceable.
I’ll never forget one trip we made together to Hyderabad. It was just me and him, walking along the footpath, having tea and talking about the future and life. There was something so simple and yet so meaningful about that moment. We didn’t need grand gestures or plans. It was just us, in the moment, sharing thoughts about what was yet to come and reflecting on what had been. His wisdom, even in the simplest conversations, always left me with more clarity and peace.
As a young girl, I joined a hostel, and it wasn’t easy being away from home. But my father made sure to come and visit me regularly. Each time, he’d check in, make sure I was doing okay, and remind me how much he loved me. Those visits meant the world to me—they gave me the strength to face each new day away from home. His presence was a comfort, even if just for a short while, and I could feel the warmth of his care every time.
We had a lot of fun together, too—especially when we’d talk about politics, social issues, or, of course, food. Our discussions were never ordinary; they were filled with passion and laughter. No matter the topic, we always found a way to make each other laugh, often debating heatedly, only to end the conversation with a smile. If we were at a function, we’d always end up discussing the food, laughing about what we liked and didn’t. Those small moments were just as significant to me as the big ones because they were filled with his love for life, his humor, and his caring nature.
Just recently, we had a medical check-up together. Even in a hospital setting, we found ways to make each other laugh. Cracking jokes, sharing stories, and just being in each other's company—it felt so natural and comforting. Little did I know that it would be one of our last moments together. I never imagined that I would be sitting here now, writing this, feeling the loss so deeply. I never imagined that he would leave us so suddenly, leaving behind his wife, his son, and his daughter.
I still can’t quite wrap my head around it. He was always the one who held everything together, the one who brought light into even the darkest of times. And now, he’s gone. I know life will move on, but the space he left can never be filled by anyone else. The love he gave me, the wisdom he shared, and the memories we created are irreplaceable.
Dad, you were my protector, my guide, my friend. I will miss you every day, but I will carry your love and lessons with me always. Thank you for everything. You’ll forever be in my heart.
